The Nova Tote: A Collaboration Between ASK Scandinavia and Spinnova
ASK Scandinavia and Spinnova proudly present the Nova tote, a fusion of Nordic design and material innovation. This versatile bag blends minimalist aesthetics with groundbreaking materials, including SPINNOVA® fabric and Natural Indigo Finland’s coffee waste-based dyes, crafted from Paulig’s coffee waste.
Innovative materials and sustainability
The Nova tote is made from 30% wood-based SPINNOVA® fibers and 70% BCI Giza cotton. The fabric is dyed with natural dyes from coffee waste, offering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional dyeing methods. Natural tannins are used as excipients, making this dyeing process a more planet-conscious solution.
Collaborating for purposeful fashion
This project showcases the power of innovation and collaboration in creating more sustainable fashion. "The ASK x Spinnova bag is a testament to Nordic design and innovation, where timeless design meets pioneering textile technology," says Anette Cantagello, Director of Design and Sustainability at ASK Scandinavia.
Pasi Ainasoja, CEO of Natural Indigo Finland, adds, "It is a pleasure to be involved in a collaboration where waste coffee is utilised as an ecological dye. This project strongly supports the sustainable development goals in the textile industry."
