We had the pleasure of sitting down with Kate, the founder of KLÚB Studio, to discuss her journey from biotechnology to fitness entrepreneurship.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

I was born in Russia and received my higher education in Moscow, specializing in biotechnology. Although I chose this path for stability, I always felt destined to run my own business, inspired by my entrepreneurial father. After a brief stint in a corporate job, I realized entrepreneurship was my true calling, especially confirmed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What was your relationship with fitness before starting a fitness business?

I've always been active, participating in school and university sports. After moving to Finland, I challenged myself with fitness bikini bodybuilding competitions. This sparked my interest in understanding fitness deeply, leading me to become a certified PT and group fitness instructor, focusing on Barre. Teaching and seeing the positive impact on my clients made me realize this was my true passion.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur, and were there any role models who influenced your journey?

My father was my initial inspiration. Currently, I draw inspiration from American fitness instructor Aubre Winters, who influenced my passion for Barre. She shows that it's possible to stand out and energize people uniquely through charisma and a distinct teaching style. And Victoria Moldavskya, a businesswoman managing three businesses across two countries, inspires me with her energy and relentless drive for growth. Her determination motivates me to push myself further, even when I feel I've given my all. What has been your proudest moment as a female business owner?

My proudest moment comes from seeing my clients' continuous growth. Creating a program that is accessible yet challenging and watching people, who started with me long ago, now training at an athletic level and knowing I've been part of their fitness journey is incredibly satisfying.

How important is sustainability in your business model and personal life?

Sustainability is crucial. At KLÚB Studio, we use reusable water bottles, sustainable materials, and promote digital solutions. We also plan to launch tote bags to replace plastic shopping bags. In my personal life, I make consistent efforts like recycling and supporting local businesses.

What kind of challenges have you come to face during your journey of starting a business?

Prioritizing personal time over business tasks and having the courage to take creative risks are my main challenges. Balancing work and rest is essential, and overcoming the fear of new ventures is a continuous part of entrepreneurship.

What advice would you give to other women who are considering starting their own business?

Always be honest with yourself, your team, and your clients.
