We talked with actress Linnea Leino about how she got into acting, what projects she has at the moment and her reasons of being vegan.
Could you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into acting?
I’m Linnea Leino, a Finnish actress from Helsinki. Right now I work as a freelancer in different projects, films, tv and also theatre. I decided I wanted to become an actress already at a young age. I was about 7 years old when after seeing the musical Romeo and Juliet in Paris, I told my parents I would become an actress when I grow up.
What have been your favorite projects and do you have something new coming up soon?
I would probably have to say the film Girl Picture where I got to do one of my favorite roles and the film Lapua 1976 which tells a story around a real horrific accident that happened in the 70s. Right now we’re filming the second season of the series Hormonit and I have a new film coming out on the 5th of December. It’s called After Us, the Flood.
How has your experience been in Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa -show?
It has been amazing! I have been having so much fun! I didn’t know anything about the dances before starting the show and I have been learning so much. The Sunday night live shows are very exciting. I am so happy I decided to participate.
When did you start being vegan and why?
I started being vegan about five years ago. I decided to do it because I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint. And I still do.
How do you implement vegan values to your life otherwise? Does it affect the way you dress for example?
I am always very interested in new vegan inventions. I’m very happy to see that many brands are starting to find vegan solutions and options to their products. I mostly implement vegan values in my eating habits, but I also bend towards other vegan products, for example in fashion, when I have the possibility.
Any inspiring books, art, films, or music you would recommend for inspiration at the moment?
Right now I’m listening a lot to a French artist called Chien Noir and the amazing album Valo of Aili Ikonen & Oulu Sinfonia and Rumon Gamba. In the past few months I have been so busy that I have had much less time to watch movies and read or listen to books than normally. I have tickets for the play Angels in America in Kansallisteatteri and I’m really looking forward to seeing it!
