How has your background and upbringing in Italy influenced your views on fashion and lifestyle?
Italy is full of art and beauty, and design is an integral part of our daily lives. Growing up in this country that I love so much had a big impact on me. However, in my family, fashion wasn’t viewed positively. Both of my parents worked in the medical field and were passionate about sciences and the humanities, so anything related to fashion or design was seen as frivolous or superficial. Because of this, it took me a while to find my own voice and follow my true passions. On the other hand, I was raised with a strong sense of ethics, which led me to where I am today, working in sustainable fashion.
Your journey in the fashion industry is quite inspiring. Can you share how your experiences have shaped your approach to sustainable fashion?
First of all, thank you! I feel extremely privileged to have found a way to do what I love in a way that aligns with my values. After nearly 10 years working for some of Europe’s leading textile companies and designing for major fashion groups, I felt something was missing. At that time, fast fashion was booming, and I witnessed its impact firsthand. There was an enormous amount of waste, with thousands of meters of fabric ending up in landfills and polyester being used everywhere. This led me to question if there was a different way to approach fashion.
By chance, I began collaborating with a fully traceable fashion startup, which taught me so much. I started seeing the design process from a new perspective. This experience inspired me to quit my job and start my own consulting studio, focusing on sustainable practices in the fashion industry. Conscious fashion wasn’t really a thing back then, so at first, it felt lonely and frustrating. But soon, I realized I was on the right path. Now, I consult for both large and small brands, helping them reduce their environmental impact. I also teach at various fashion universities, host workshops for designers, and contribute to magazines and podcasts on sustainable fashion.
As an influencer, how do you use your platform to educate and inspire others about the importance of sustainability in fashion?
I’m really proud of the community I've built on Instagram over the years, mostly in my spare time. However, I still hesitate to call myself an influencer; I prefer to see myself as an advocate for a more responsible approach to fashion. My primary work happens offline, but I enjoy sharing insights on my profile, especially to help people who want to make a change but struggle to find beautiful, well-made sustainable options. I want to prove that a product can be both aesthetically pleasing and kind to the planet and the people who made it.
I believe in a positive and kind approach to advocacy. While I understand the frustration and negativity often found online regarding these topics, I worry that it can make people feel powerless. My goal is to show that a new approach is possible and offer practical options for change, helping to build a better future together.
In three words, how would you describe your wardrobe?
Minimalistic, practical, conceptual.
Can you share any tips for maintaining a stylish yet functional wardrobe as a busy parent?
I've always been practical in my approach to fashion, which definitely helps. Having a simple yet stylish uniform is great for busy days when you're rushing around. Layering, such as pairing a tailored shirt or a good blazer with a plain white t-shirt and jeans, can elevate a look. Great accessories can also make a big difference.
What personal values do you hope to instill in your children regarding fashion and lifestyle choices?
I hope my children grow up understanding the impact we can all have—both negative and positive—on the planet, our community, and our relationships with others. I believe that kindness and understanding are key values, not just in fashion but in all aspects of life, including politics.
